Today this is what happened:
"Mom, did you know R unlocked dry Bowser on his Wii Mario Cart?"
"No man, that's so cool."
Pause while mom is thinking how to proceed. Should I inquire about Dry Bowser or just pretend I know and leave it at that? My curiosity gets the best of me.
"Wait, man what is dry Bowser like NOT wet Bowser or what?"
Pause while boy contemplates how mom (who used to be his hero) can be such a dunce.
"Um, no. (pause) No. (More pause.) No. (Pause in utter distress.) Um. He's not like dry or... wait, wet Bowser is just like, uh, regular Bowser not. Like. Wet. But dry Bowser, he's...well."
Long Pause wherein I assume Boy discovers Mom is actually lost cause so thinks of a diversion.
"Do you know Dry Bones is a skeleton who actually has dry bones?"
"Aaah, now that seems right."
"Yeah."
He has totally surpassed me. Dear God what will I do when he brings home Trigonometry?

Madeline has already perfected the slow talking voice for when I don't get it.

I needed to see dry Bowser to believe it. (Who thinks this stuff up?) And I think T & D would get along a little TOO well. ;)
